LAMP-CRISPR REACTIONS WITHIN A SIMPLE PAPER-BASED MICROFLUIDIC SYSTEM

Updated: May 19, 2023

CRISPR-based detection of LAMP reactions provides three significant advantages. The first is that using CRISPR as the biochemical readout for LAMP reactions eliminates the possibility of nonspecific amplification, which can be an issue when using LAMP alone. The second is that CRISPR biochemistry provides a vivid signal output that can easily be detected by the eye and can be captured by Smartphone. The third advantage is that it is speedy. After the LAMP reaction, the CRISPR result is evident within 5 minutes and reaches saturation within 15-20 minutes. At DNAiTECH, we are the first to thoroughly combine both the LAMP reactions with CRISPRCas12a detection into a simple paper-based microfluidic chip. This exciting development sets the stage for a new range of simple, low-cost devices ideal for point-of-care diagnostics in resource-limited situations.
